Corpse paint, spiked bracers, and black outfits were in vogue in Tempe last week as Brazilian black metal act POWER FROM HELL took over the Metalheads Clubhouse alongside BOURN ULTRA, GORETHODOX, and INTERRA.

Tucson four-piece INTERRA began the festivities with crawling, blackened doom metal that would play as one’s soul slowly sinks to Hell. GORETHODOX, also from Tucson, with an upside down cross hanging on the mic stand, kicked the speed up to 11. Los Angeles trio BOURN ULTRA came onto the stage surrounded in smoke and red lights, like we were waiting at Satan’s doorstep, before gracing them with bestial audio devastation.

The stage, once again engulfed in fog, resembled the breath of a dragon, as POWER FROM HELL was summoned. The veteran black metal band’s fast, raw, ugly energy made way for headbanging en masse, as they brought “Bestial Times” for all who were worthy.

Chilling neon blue lights altered the fog, creating a silhouette of vocalist ARON ROMERO as his demonic screams still pierced the eardrums of the audience. POWER FROM HELL ended the night with a tribute to Bathory, with “The Return Of Darkness And Evil.”
