Music from ages past in a theater that has seen the past, LOST DOG STREET BAND (LDSB) performed at The Nile Theater with a fresh 100 years under its marquee. Opening for the night was the talented NOLAN TAYLOR.
With music derived straight from personal experiences, TAYLOR broke down each song with a snippet of what they were about. From a song about having a conversation with a meth’d out friend, to a song about his harmonica player getting fired and having his girlfriend break up with him, it was nice to have a mental stage set for the songs to flesh out a stronger connection to the music.
Speaking of connecting to the music, no stronger connection than drawing from personal experiences, and just like TAYLOR, LDSB pulls straight from the life of lead BENJAMIN TOD. If you are a fan of folk music or vintage country music, LDSB should be a staple in your musical library.
With a full band in tow, TOD and wife ASHLEY MAE rush the stage to an uproar of welcoming fans filling the venue. If you have ever been a guest to the darkest pits of a hardened street life, LDSB has a song for you. Pulling from his personal life, trials, and tribulations, TOD fills every song with an aural amalgam of pain, earnesty, regret, and melancholy soundscapes for every struggle connected to a vice.
Hot on the heels of their latest album “Survived,” LDSB played a collection of new songs along with their classics, with each song doing exactly what it was meant to do: make you feel.
