You know how you look at certain artists, and regardless of if you like their music or not, you understand that their performances are going to be insanely entertaining and have amazing production value? If PITBULL was not one of those artists for you, he needs to be. Liking the music meant I was already going to enjoy my time, but I did not think it was going to be just as entertaining visually.
Let me start by saying, straight out the gate, T-PAIN POPPED OFF as PITBULL’s opener. If you watch his streams on Twitch, you understand this man is wildly talented and entertaining in his own right, and the fact that he was battling the flu during this show made it all the more amazing. With a flurry of dance moves, to a mashup of certified T-PAIN bangers, he was making this show feel like a double headliner more than an opener and headliner. With just as many hits as PITBULL himself, these two artists needed to bring us these mashups or the concert would have lasted at least 6 hours.
Speaking of mashups, PITBULL not only mashed up his back to back top hits, he also mashed up the crowd with the instantaneous dancing that became contagious from attendee to attendee. Dancing was not exclusive to the attendees, PITBULL employed a group of backup dancers that complimented the music and amplified the energy during the entirety of the show.
From multiple suit changes for Mr. Worldwide, to multiple outfit changes for the dancers, T-PAIN also had an outfit change during his appearance for their song “Hey Baby,” coming out in a yellow suit to compliment PITBULL’s red suit, calling themselves the musical Deadpool and Wolverine. With PITBULL in red and the dancers in red, it was a perfect time to bump some “Gasolina” by DADDY YANKEE and have the displays on stage covered with flames while the pyrotechnics erupted with 15-20 foot jets of flames, making sure it was not just the music heating up, but the atmosphere as well.
The entire show was basically a nonstop blast. A moment here and there to catch your breath while still playing some quick sample cuts and crowd cams, but that was the lowest point of energy. And if this was considered the lowest point of energy, then the rest of the show was on a sugar high because even these moments had the crowd filled with energy, smiles, laughter, and applause. With a seemingly 1 out of every 20 people in attendance wearing the signature bald cap and shades, the crowd cam was quick to pinpoint them for the screens on either side of the stage. When they caught themselves on screen, the dance moves took all of the restraints off and grooving and moving was a baseline. At one point a crowd cam caught an attendee giving the on-stage dancers a run for their money in a twerking competition.
With an entire roll of quotable moments that night such as “what happens in Miami, never happened”, to “didn’t go to church but I’m still blessed,” the most memorable was PITBULL’s message to take home. “Life is not a waste of time and time is not a waste of life, so let’s not waste any time and have the time of our life”, a quote from the man himself as a toast or a message to take home. Finishing out the show was a beautiful dedication to not only all of the people in attendance for making this possible by continuing to grant their support, but a dedication to the teacher that had the most faith in PITBULL: Hope Martinez. From her impact on his life leading to investing in himself beyond what he thought was possible, it also led him to invest in others through the SLAM schools that began opening in 2012. The Science, Leadership, Arts, and Management charter schools have thousands of students and thousands of graduates, leading to academic assistance for fellow entrepreneurs like PITBULL was when he was younger.
