Hard Rock Germantown veterans CLUTCH and soulful hard rock outfit RIVAL SONS brought their “Two-Headed Beast Tour” to the Marquee Theatre last week, accompanied by Kentucky quartet BLACK STONE CHERRY.

BLACK STONE CHERRY kicked things off (figuratively and literally) with high energy and southern rock grit with “Me And Mary Jane,” and would sustain that same excitement for songs such as “When The Pain Comes,” “Out Of Pocket,” and “Screaming At The Sky.”

A handful of spotlights shined down on JAY BUCHANAN, vocalist of RIVAL SONS, as he came out alone with his acoustic guitar, and opened up to his parishioners with the strength of his faith and love in the song “Shooting Stars.” The barefoot vocalist would then be joined by the rest of the RIVAL SONS as they played songs like “Nobody Wants To Die,” “Rapture,” and an extended version of “Feral Roots.” RIVAL SONS dedicated the end of their set with a tribute to the victims of ongoing disasters and wars, encouraging those struggling to “Keep On Swinging.”

CLUTCH came on with a shotgun blast of energy out the gate with the song “Mercury,” with lead singer NEIL FALLON moving constantly back and forth from stage left to stage right. The stoner blues hits kept coming on with songs such as “Cypress Groove,” “Regulator,” and “Spacegrass.” They capped off the evening getting people dancing and moshing with their 1990s hits “Electric Worry” and “A Shogun Named Marcus.”
