French Punk Rock trio RIXE graced the United States with their presence and made a stop at The Nile Theater Underground stage in Mesa, Arizona. Local bands KNIFE'S EDGE, MEMORY WARD, and PIG CITY opened up, with YELLOWCAKE closing out the show.
KNIFE'S EDGE brought their brand of Oi! to open up the night with songs like “Rats in Power,” “Someone’s Gonna Die,” and “World’s End.”
MEMORY WARD and their blend of old-school production mixed with modern day brutalism took the stage next with songs like “Traditionalist,” “Duped,” and “1,000 Cuts.” Lead vocalist ALEC LOCURZIO also runs the label Total Peace, releasing projects from some of the bands that opened for RIXE that night, alongside other projects outside of the punk genre such as experimental electronic project DEADBEAT PLEASURE.
PIG CITY kicked off their “Pretty Vacunt” West Coast tour with an uncompromising force of noise with songs like “Nuclear Wasted,” “Solitary Ideation,” and “Dead on the Table.”
RIXE came on with their blend of punk mixed with synth with songs like “Tir Groupé” pumping up the crowd. The French trio all sang together as the crowd banged their heads and moshed.
YELLOWCAKE topped off the night with insanely loud and violently fast d-beat chaos. The songs off of their newly released EP “A Fragmented Truth” released by Total Peace and Not For The Weak Records made their way into the set ripping into eardrums and causing mosh pits. By the end of the night, eardrums were in shellshock.
