Off the pavement? No…EAT THE PAVEMENT! DEV LEMONS tour turns Valley Bar into the Bubble Bowl

The Dev Lemons “Eat The Pavement Tour” got the green light from Valley Bar last Friday, but that did not stop the dry, Arizona scene from turning into a night at the Bubble Bowl.

Dressed to impress in full Bikini Bottom band geek garb, the group entered the stage with some fantastic feedback from the crowd. With Dev requesting attendees to wear their own “Spongebob” themed outfits, the crowd was full of Spongebobs, Mermaid Men, Squidwards, and other BB residents. Dev did not disappoint, and neither did the crowd.

When listening to Dev’s recorded music, you get a nice experimental-retro vibe with some rock/pop grooviness to it; Dev live on the other hand was a drastic change that leaned heavily into the rock/pop side of things. I, for one, am a big fan when artists give you a completely different feeling version of the same song hearing it live as opposed to hearing it recorded.

In between songs, we were blessed with some impromptu freestyles about Phoenix (definitely not rhyming with penis) and people calling her Dev and never Devon, among other things.

We were also gifted some sick dance moves from her recently-attended dance classes, a spontaneous cymbal solo, and playful taunts to the bandmates.

Towards the end of the night, Dev brought a special guest on stage. None other than a Dev Lemons attire inspired Goofy Goober. Decked out in a purple cape, purple hat, and slick sunglasses, GG rocked out with the band before gifting the legendary Goofy Gootar to Dev herself. Dev vowed to rock out on the gootar at every stop of the tour…right before she dropped it and broke it into approximately 845 pieces.

Now, lemons may be sour, but this Lemon could not leave us on such a bitter note. Like some old dude with a sick wooden staff, Dev stood at the front of the stage and parted the crowd, leaving a pit in the center which the band entered. I will not reveal the miracle that we saw in that pit, but I will say it was a pretty sweet victory.

If you would like to experience Dev Lemons for yourself, run, don’t walk, over to their site and check out the remaining tour dates. And if you trip, just eat the pavement.
