The anticipation for this concert was high. The idea of bringing together two different genres of music for a night filled with talent, appreciation for the music and new experiences hearing the songs in such a different way was exciting.
The evening began with a meet and greet with the ESCAPE THE FATE and THE EMO ORCHESTRA conductor, EVAN ROGERS. Fans learned how much preparation went into making this tour a success, like how the teams had to find the perfect songs to incorporate Escape the Fate’s playing style with an orchestral sound. All the band members mentioned their appreciation and respect for the orchestra members’ commitment to their craft, which in turn made each of them a better musician.
Many emo songs were covered during the show, including “Thnks fr th Mmrs” by FALL OUT BOY, “Miss Murder” by AFI, Dear Maria, “Count Me In” by ALL TIME LOW, “I Miss You” by BLINK-182, and “Anthem” by GOOD CHARLOTTE. To bring both groups together, a night with ESCAPE THE FATE of course included fan favorites like “This War is Ours” and “Not Good Enough for the Truth in Cliché.” A night of emo music would not be complete without songs by MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, and the audience was ‘emo’tionally treated to “I’m Not Okay, I Promise” and the night ended with everyone being G-noted (if you know, you know) with “Welcome to the Black Parade.”
The evening was filled with emotion; not just from the audience, but the energy from the band was inspiring. The musicians in the orchestra are craftsmen. Their energy was amazing–jumping, dancing, head-banging, all while playing a violin or flute takes so much talent. CRAIG MABBIT, the singer for ESCAPE THE FATE is a genuine joy to watch perform. His love for what he does and for his fans shine through in every single performance. Bringing both types of music and talent together was mind-blowing and a next-level experience.
